"Don’t expect hot water, at all. The showers have been pumping out nothing but cold water the entire time I’ve been here. They just “fixed” the hot water heater last week and it’s still nothing but freezing water for the showers, doesn’t matter if it’s morning or night or it’s been hours since someone has last showered, you will not get hot showers. The heaters do not kick on until it’s below 50° outside, too cold? Too bad, you also can’t have a portable heater. There’s also weekly fire alarms because the alarms are so sensitive. We’ve been woken up all hours of the night from fire alarms. 1 am, or 6 am it does not matter. We’ve had to stand in freezing rain at night TWICE now because of these fire alarms and they won’t fix it, despite this being an issue for several semesters now. The building is also at the bottom of campus, so to get pretty much anywhere on campus you have to walk up a huge hill first. The walls are cold and uninviting, and look like prison cells with cement blocks, yet despite this, you will STILL hear your neighbors screaming and laughing all hours of the night, the rooms are also way too small for two people. The dorm was built in the 60’s and should just be demolished it’s such a dump. We also, just got a bomb threat last night and had to evacuate too. Do yourself a favor and avoid butler hall like a plague." - 1 year ago

"Tower shit is trash don’t live here. Constant maintenance problems, ppl fucking suck I hate it here. The best part of this semester is going to be leaving this shit hole. This is Arkham fucking tower prison. Packed in this bitch like sardines, the vents connect you to another room so you can hear EVERYTHING " - 2 months ago

Lantana Hall

"Good location close to Commons/Flowers/The Den and is right on the bus loop. Very kind building staff. Room looks less like the pictures provided by the university because the mirrors have been broken off of the walls and the closet doors have been torn off as well. Consider using a shower curtain to act as a closet door. It's a small, rather depressing room with cinderblock walls. Still, noise can get through them easily. Unlike most TXST dorms, the beds are regular twins, not extra-long. Showerheads and stall doors are low, so this is not a tall-friendly dorm. The beds cannot be lofted. AC and heat are kind of building-universal--if it's hot outside, every room has the AC on and vice-versa. But the AC works well, so that's nice. Amenities are older, paint is disastrous inside, and the concrete is less than inviting. This building was built pre-ADA, so you must be able to climb the stairs to enter. There are no elevators. It's an older dorm, so most of this is to be expected. However, there are other dorms in the same price range that have since been renovated, and those might be more worth your while. Lastly, the culture of this dorm was lacking. This might have been a function of the people there and not always true. The building director left mid-year, and there were almost no widely attended events." - 4 years ago

"All male engineering hall so it’s pretty quiet, and pretty lame. Not much goes on here. Bathrooms have been renovated so they’re nice." - 4 years ago

"Dope ass room! It’s a STEM LLC dorm. Kinda far from main campus (it’ def a walk) 2 rooms, 2 roommates for each room (4 people total). Each room shares a bathroom & shower (better than sharing with the whole floor) awesome smoking spot in front of the dorm (Amphitheater)" - 4 years ago
