"It is a little older but the better dorm building than most others. Bonus: there’s a huge living space " - 2 years ago

    Cypress Hall

    based on 1 review

"It's your typical dorm. Not a lot of space or privacy for the number of people they cram in there. The bathrooms in the room are a really nice addition, though. Building is older, so they were doing repairs often. The hall kitchen and laundry room were adequate. There are no elevators, so if you're on the second or third floor, you have to take the stairs. Cypress is really close to the main quad, so walking to classes or the dining hall was convenient and easy. " - 2 years ago

    Pinnacles Suites

    based on 1 review

"Suites are typically made up of two doubles and two singles. I was in a single. The single room is on the smaller side, but it was nice having my own space and privacy. Suites come with a kitchenette (microwave, fridge, and sink), so you're limited in what you can cook in your dorm. There is a building kitchen on the second floor available, though. Elevator was convenient when it wasn't out of service. The washers and driers in the laundry room were on the older side, so they were constantly being repaired. Expect it to be freezing in your room half the time. Pinnacles has little to no insulation, so the cold/foggy Monterey air seeps in. There is a heater in your room to help combat this. North Quad (Pinnacles Suites, Vineyards Suites, and Strawberry Apartments) is farther out from main campus, so expect a 10 to 15-minute walk to get to class. " - 2 years ago

    Promontory Apartments

    based on 1 review

"I lived in a single in a 3 bedroom apartment. It is arguably the best place I've lived on campus.

Pros: Every apartment has a full kitchen and a washer and drier in the unit. The rooms themselves are very spacious, as is the living room. Every room also has a private bathroom. The type of closet you get seems to vary based on the room layout. One of my roommates had a walk-in closet while the other had a smaller closet with a single door. I had a two-door sliding closet which was quite spacious. No meal plan is required. We also had our own mailroom and gym separate from the main-campus ones, so that was super convenient. Wifi was also better than in any other place I had lived on campus.

Cons: There is no overhead lighting in Prom (excluding the kitchen and bathrooms), so make sure to bring some other source of light to supplement the small lamp they provide you. I'd also recommend bringing a fan because there is no AC and it can get a little warmer in the apartments at night. Lastly, it is about a 15-20 minute walk to main campus. " - 2 years ago
