Gannon/Goldsworthy Reviews

Washington State University

Reviews Summary

Gannon/Goldsworthy dorm offers a mixed living experience that garners a range of opinions from its residents. Conveniently located near the market and café with a dining hall entrance nearby, it benefits from a prime location. However, this convenience is often overshadowed by several drawbacks. The dorm, described as old and somewhat unclean, suffers from maintenance issues such as malfunctioning elevators, broken washing machines, and occasional power outages. The shared kitchen is inadequate for the building's population, with only one small space available for over 400 residents. Although the dorm boasts large windows providing plenty of natural light and offers adequately sized rooms with decent storage, the thin walls make noise isolation impossible, leading to frequent disturbances. Bathrooms are a common concern, plagued with mold and poor ventilation, contributing to an unpleasant smell. Despite these shortcomings, some residents have found a strong sense of community, forming lasting friendships and social bonds.

It is nice because we are so close to the market and cafe but it’s not clean! Our fire alarms go off a lot and it’s always so loud.

This is the worst dorm on campus, and it’s not even close. Positives, lots of natural light and the rooms are decent sized. Negatives, everything else. The elevators barely work, the washing machines break, bathrooms are small and weirdly hot, it smells terrible, and they seemingly put every person with terrible behavior together. Things regularly get stolen. Gannon is far worse than Goldsworthy, because at least Goldsworthy has a kitchen.

Lived there from the 2019-2020 year in floor 6 of Goldsworthy. The building is old, and the lobby is a time capsule, but it was well maintained. The only thing that happened was a 2 day power outage caused by an old cable blowing up. The elevators were "weird", so I normally took the stairs.

The room, floor layout, bathroom are all no frills. I didn't find anything bad about them, but there wasn't anything good either. The location is great and the exit is right next to the dining hall entrance.

The only truly unacceptable thing is sharing a small kitchen with 400+ people. Each building should have it's own kitchen at least. The wifi normally worked fine, or not at all. It would go out maybe once a month for a few minutes.

This is not a great dorm, I’d say it’s the worst one. I didn’t live here but my friend did and she hated it! The walls are paper thin so you hear everything from your neighbors and your neighbors hear you. You don’t have much room and the room is organized strangely. The overall building isn’t very nice, it does have a pretty standard and relatively nice bathroom tho.

I actually had a great experience in Goldsworthy. My floor was a very close group and we were all friends, partying in the dorms together and every night was a social event. Yes, goldsworthy is one of the worst dorms but it built character and nearly all of my friends I have now, as a senior, were all from goldsworthy.

I’ve lived here for about 6 months, floor 4. There is mold in the showers, sinks etc. that causes people to be sick and the washer has mold in it. However dorm Rooms are nice and adequate space. Decent storage space too! Bathrooms have very poor ventilation though, and so do the showers.
