Loftman Hall is a well-located college dormitory close to Marino gym and a short walk to campus. It offers a variety of living arrangements, from quads to 8-person apartments, with a mix of single, double, and triple rooms. Most students appreciate the adequate room size, and larger apartments feature two bathrooms, a living room, dining room, and kitchen, providing ample common areas for large groups. However, some students have reported that the smallest singles can be cramped and lack storage space.

Some of the hall's common disadvantages include a lack of the elevator, narrow kitchens, as well as thin walls allowing noise intrusion from neighboring apartments. The building itself is in need of improvement with instances of leaky ceilings and, in some cases, damaged fire escape routes. Furthermore, some students have experienced inconveniences with infestations, such as rats and mice, possibly linked to the building's age.

Despite the mentioned drawbacks, students have still found their overall experience in Loftman Hall largely positive due to the building's convenient location near campus facilities and social hotspots. The strong recommendation would be to maintain a clean living space to avoid potential issues.

At Northeastern, there are a variety of different housing accommodations for students. Most first years live at traditional/suite-style type apartments. As a second year, most students live in apartment style accommodations such as the West Villages, or Davenport Commons A/B. These apartments are much more spacious and typically have common rooms and a kitchen. Upperclassmen who live on campus will have the options of choosing from various leased properties which are apart of apartment style accommodations.
